Only (roughly) 1k, and not much in the way of plot. So not really an RPG, but it's a short story nonetheless.

Blood Red Roses Part I of Many

Blood Red Roses

Length: 975 words

Intro was hard to understand. I also saw that the format was not in proper grammar, but wont be counted off because it was still easily readable.

It had lots of action, but was hard to follow. Reading it twice made it much easier.

I'm going to have to give this 3 out of 5 stars. You can increase this to full (Maybe) if you finish it to 3000 words. Right now, of course, its 1st place!

What's wrong with the format's grammar? Neutral

You didn't indent and merge the paragraphs correctly.

Sorry, but indenting paragraphs is not a universal grammatical rule. And I dunno about me not merging them properly. Granted there are a lot of short paragraphs, but I think it gives it a more choppy, actiony feel. It's not bad grammar...

Imp's not from Local Manner neither am I so what happens in the U.S is different from other parts of the world. Like the U.S is the only nation that use the Customary System and other countries use the Metric System. So grammars will not apply world-wide

No Peva, you were taught in school what your teacher THOUGHT was proper grammar.

I was taught in school what my teachers believes was proper grammar. So yes, you are right. I didn't count you off for that, don't worry Razz only reason you scored so low is because of low word length.

Re: 3k Writting Contest (OVER)

Post by Peva on Fri Jul 16, 2010 4:53 pm

Sorry for double post, but yesterday was the deadline and we only have one entrant. wtf?

Heres the prologue to my longest story
Spoiler:
The Salty Shack seafood restaurant in Sacramento, California, was always packed to the rim on Friday nights. And this Friday was no exception. Every table was filled, every seat occupied. Some people even stood. The restaurant was filled with the stench of raw fish and salt (not that salt really smells like anything). A few people had crying babies with them, but even if you looked right at the baby, you could not hear its cries. The televisions blared and people shouted. Asian waiters and waitresses rummaged around, delivering raw, callow sushi, grilled, ornate delicacies, and salty delights. The max occupancy was past its limit. It was so filled, that if a person stood and turned, all the things that they were holding on their tray would scatter around the floor. Perhaps this is what made it smell the way it did.
Rick Dayman, a hard workingman, came to the salty shack once or twice a week with his family. The Dayman family attended so often, that the waiters, waitresses, and even a few chefs, recognized them when they walked in. Waving hello and shouting to try to get a message across, the Daymans were loved by the Salty Shack.
This Friday, the Daymans walked to their regular booth to learn it was filled. This almost never happened. It was a big shock. They walked around and found a filthy table. Discouraged, they sat down. After a comfortable two minutes, a waiter, whom they didn’t recognize, approached them. With dismay, he told them that just about all of the specialties were gone. No crabs, crawfish, or lobsters left at all. Rick’s regular was a lobster with three crawfish, and some halibut or calamari. The waiter told him that they did have some leftover fish that they couldn’t identify, and that the chef could make a great platter of them if grilled. Rick nearly rejected since it sounded like leftovers. It was also cheap, which told him that it was probably not that great. He always ordered the lobster platter because money was no problem, with the Daymans being rich. He disdainfully accepted the waiter’s offer and waited for it to finish. The rest of his family ordered the regular sushi and sashimi that they always ordered.
After the meal, Rick told his family that the meal was amazing. Most of it was regular fish, but a small piece made his mouth go numb it was so amazing. The rest of the family was extremely jealous that he got such an amazing delicacy. When the waiter returned for the check, Rick asked what the amazing gossameriness-like food was. The waiter told them that it was an unidentified platter. Rick thanked him anyways, paid the check, and left, feeling amazing.

Here's a random excerpt about ten thousand words in.
Spoiler:

“Find something.” The first one said. Claire moved her hand with the ring under her stomach, since she was now upside down.
“Hey.” The third one said. His voice sounded odd. He must have been deaf. The first man looked at him. He pointed to his hand. Claire began to cry. Then, the first man kicked her side with extreme force. She let out a whimper. He hit harder than he needed to. She rolled onto her back.
“Hmm…” The second man said. He knelt down and grabbed her ring off her finger. She didn’t have enough energy to do anything back.
“It jus’ nufin.” The second man said.
“They will find you…” Claire let out. “You can’t do this. Someone will find you, and you will be punished.” Every bit of noise was hoarse.
The first man looked puzzled. He then gave Claire a cockeyed look. He lifted his foot and slammed it down on Claire’s throat.
“Not if you can’t talk.” He said. “Take her.” Claire blacked out. It was all too normal.
