RPG Cinematic Results

Post by omegas7 on Thu Oct 07, 2010 3:46 pm

Now, there was quite a problem regarding judging scores.

HopeEsthiem gave X score to Doll's story, but didn't even mention story scores for Larcenist. Therefore, I also rejected Doll's score from Hope and just took into consideration Money's and Elf's. Now, without Hope's judgement regarding story for both entries, they can't be completely accurate.
A smilar problem goes for Creativity. Only Money's and Elf's scores were used, because Hope also forgot to mention the score result of Creativty for Doll (he did say it was VERY creative though), and once again, there is another considerable hole in the scores.

Now, now, both entries were really great, I'd say that their scores would have much greater if Hope's vote was also taken into consideration.

Mitchi won, but I can't say the results were 100% accurate due to the previously stated.

I am not intending any offense to Hope, though. He had a mess upon him, but his reviews were vague and not very complete. Below you can see reviews given by Moneymenace and Elfsong.

Larcenist Reviews
Moneymenace:
Spoiler:
The game was fairly cliched but was then executed well. It was very creative, though.
The Larcenist kept a constant modest interest. The characters except for the king were "round" characters and made them interesting when they talked. But I do believe that the story was stretched to the point where it was mainly all talk and no action.
Technique was fantastic. The use of scripts in a proper way. How to place what and when. Nothing seemed to be out of order. In this cinema, nothing was confusing to the point where someone was asking questions of how he/she ended up where.
Mapping was OK, not bad, not great.. Use of music was great and well-varied. The battle was a personal favorite of mine.
Elfsong:
Spoiler:
I really liked your game mitchi but some stuff annoyed me. Well first of all the larcenist(the charecter) was just a little to stupid for my taste I mean he stole and then he just left the kingdom come on if your a thief KEEP STEALING. It was really good to though in some parts. I espically liked the battle seen with IMp vs the Agemenion kingdom very interesting and cool. Overall this was a great entry just some stuff was a little to dumb!

DOLL Reviews
Moneymenace:
Spoiler:
This was, in my opinion one of the better executed uncliched cinemas. I mean yes, you find this crazy guy who has no friends except for his doll. The sudden turn of events with the doll war gives it its uniqueness.
Poor beginning if I must say so myself. Very uninteresting. Bunch of VERY slow talking that no one exactly needs. The maps needed extreme work. Great ending. Very pulling. The war between the true good and evil of the dolls was just amazing. The execution of animation and flashes and sound effects and music gave it that much of a difference.
There were no scripts, I guess there was no need. I'm going to give a small penalty for not adding a sound effect. A sound effect was missing and it made me redo the ENTIRE cinema after I replaced it with something else. Mapping was poor. Graphic usage was bland. A simple title screen. Orange trees in what looks to be winter. Music usage was great! Including sound effects as well! Execution of everything used in the battle was fantastic.
Elfsong:
Spoiler:
Your entry was really cool ami. My main issue was it was a little to sappy at some parts and soemtimes a little to much dialect. Overall though your entry was good I loved the part wiht the whole fary type thing excelent.

Now, as you can see, both did a splendid job. I'm simply sorry for the fact I had to disappear for a while, and having the scores a bit inaccurate (and maybe unfair?).

I'm coming back soon for more details ~

Took long enough! Congratulations http://mitchi.exe! I did not play your game because I was too afraid of seeing how bad I will lose! XD
But maybe I will play it now! Good job and thank you all for your kind words! :)

Had the scores been more accurate, I'd say they would have been like 9.0+ overall, so, yes, that was a very nice job you two did.

You know Halloween is coming and we could have a contest, but I'm just scared of ending up showing the results on Christmas so... :p

Pssssshhht, nahhhhh! Then what you do Omega's is to judge it yourself or get the community to judge things themselves Very Happy

Or you sell cats on the side of the road....

Well done guys!

Omegas, I would have done better reviews, if I wasn't tired and had too little time on my hands...But overall, they were both superb. But I must say, Mitchi's entry JUST had the little advantage, stating the fact that I liked it more because it was a community cinema.

You both inspired me.You should both be proud.

Can we just skip a Halloween contest? I wouldn't be able to do it Sad.
I'm not uber busy during December! How about Christmas game-making!

One thing I'd like to remind something of Sugar Bell. I docked you points due to a problem within the cinema. One of the sound effects was unfortunately missing when the judging started. I was able to replace it, but I had to start the ENTIRE cinema over again because the missing sound effect was used towards the end of the battle scene...
